RE: Totota Prius number 1,000,000 but can you Dinghy it?

Well look again.... The VW jetta TDI is available again in 09. I test drove one yesterday. Along with a Mini Cooper and a Prius. The Mini was fun to drive but talk about NO back seat room. The Prius beat it hands down. WITh a better ride. VW also has the 2009 Diesel Sportwagon.

In the MH inside the shop. Do ya like the fancy door for the bathroom !!! The house is in sheetrock mode. So probably about 2 months before it's done and we can finish the shop. But I'm in no hurry know.

RE: Living in RV while building house?

We are living in our MH while the house is being built. We poured a slad and framed, roofed and wired a 40x50 RV garage. Ran septic and water and pulled in. We have been on the property now for a month. Just got internet yesterday in fact. Now I don't care if it takes a year to finish the house. In fact I'm thinking we shouldn't have even started it. We are enjoying the RV lifestyle way to much :)

RE: New RV garage

Thanks,, The shop is 40 wide and 50' deep. The right side is all open for the RV and has a full wall down the middle with a douple door between both sides. The left side is full RV height the 1st 30' and the back 20' has 9' ceilings below and the stairway goes up to a 20x20 room that will be used for a game room (poker table, foosball, TV, wet bar ect. Attached to the back left side of the shop is a 10'x20' storage room for long handle tools ect. There will be a patio door going out the back wall of the game room onto a 10x20 deck over the tool shed. There is a 1/2 bath under the stairway and the preasure tank for water. We have RV septic hook up just in front and to the right of the RV side door. The power and water was hooked up today. So tomorrow at about 10 we will take the MH up there and live. No phone or internet yet. Probably a couple weeks. Our next home (in 2 years if the market comes back) will be a a simular thing but with a living quaters under one roof instead of the house we are building about 50 yours in front of the shop. Should have done it this time.

Our new RV garage is getting closer http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l168/hdrider44/Paradise%20House/IMG_1069.jpg http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l168/hdrider44/Paradise%20House/IMG_1066.jpg http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l168/hdrider44/Paradise%20House/IMG_0924.jpg We hope to move the MH into it until the new house in complete. We won't finish the shop until the house is done.

RE: Oh man, this is nuts...

RE: Snowbirds - what are we going to do about next year??

You should be happy that you have the option to be a snowbird! Live life and enjoy. It could be worse. You could still be a workin stiff like me and not really even have the option to take off for the winter. We sold our house last Thanksgiving and have been living in the MH since while now building another house and shop. Hopefully in 2 years after the capital gain period the house market will pick back up and we will sell, THEN have a chance to travel. How do you think I feel thinking about what fuel prices might be then !!! You guys better enjoy it now.

RE: Real Estate market getting better in your area?

I suppose that wasn't fair of me....and more so because I don't want to post on the internet where I am....so let's just say the North East. Ahhhh, that explains the black SUV with very dark tinted windows that went by yesterday with (where is Crusin Susan) pasted on the sides ;) Just kiddin !!!

RE: Real Estate market getting better in your area?

When the slump hit rock bottom sales # per unit wise we had single digit home sales in this county. Last month we had 75 sold. I'm in the building supply business and we do have new homes being supplied but they are all pre sold units. Only one builder I know of doing any spec homes. He did get rid of one last week. Of course I'm one of the dumb ones... I have a new home and shop being built right now. We sold our home Nov of last year. Should have just drove away then. I'm a gluttin for punishment.

RE: Country Coach cuts wages

I aggree that they should do what it takes to survive. And as long as all the employees understand that they at least still have a job, maybe and just maybe cusomer service and quality won't take a hit. We are having a anniversary sale this weekend at my store and 2 of my reps just took a pay cut and now can't make it to the event to help support us. I buy over $800K worth of product a year from them. So paycuts can and do have ripple effect's.

RE: What a bummer

Life is a rollercoaster. I would elaborate on some of my lows but after seeing the story above I will just count my blessings and move on. But don't get to wrapped up in the negitive. Look for the possitive and I'm sure you will find it at one level or another.

RE: It's Official, Scott TP is SAFE for RV !

I remember living on the farm in Iowa as a boy working the fields with dad. When the urge came around large leaves where the choice... ok,, sorry. But seriously,, I alway read ( just use enough water). well just what is enough water each flush. If any old paper will work it seems that the study should be on how much water each flush, not what TP. Is it 1 gal,, 2 ?

RE: Flagpole

I like the 2" pole from Poles and Holders as it is MUCH thicker and rigid than the pole buddy and thinner pole. Check out the poles page and see for yourself as they have a picture of their pole vs. others. I like the hitch mount. Anyone have these poles? By the way...I have heard that NASCAR won't let you raise aluminum poles as there have been instances of electrocution with overhead lines.....only fiberglass poles are allowed... Another vote for Poles and Holders here. I sure like ours. We use the ladder mount however.

RE: RV Mattress

We bought a new one. But we did not do the sleep #. I have heard many good things about them but we had one in our stick home before selling and would not own another. Just my opinion.

RE: Awning deployed by itself?

I had the same thing happen. It turned out it was a worn sprocket that allowed the awning to go out on it's own. Actually it wasn't worn because it was new but it was bad just the same. I did put velcro aronr the awning in a couple places until it was repaired under warranty.

RE: Internet when camping

I RV to make ME happy, not anyone else. And if surfing the web in the morning while waiting for my wife to get up and around makes me happy,,, then that's what I will do. Pure and simple. I would just smile at Mr Grumpy and say to each his own. As long as what others do and what I do doesn't interfere with anyone else.. who cares.
